Lantania has expanded its footprint in Algeria after being awarded two new contracts to upgrade industrial wastewater treatment facilities for dairy producer Fadiplait and edible oil manufacturer Afia Savola. Both projects are scheduled for completion within 24 months.
Under the agreement with Fadiplait, Lantania will increase the capacity of the wastewater treatment plant serving the company’s production facility in Hammadi, located in the Boumerdès Province near Algiers. The works include the installation of a physicochemical treatment process based on flotation technology, together with a sludge treatment line designed to facilitate the future integration of a biological treatment stage. The upgraded facility will be able to treat 75 m³ of wastewater per day.
Fadiplait is one of Algeria’s leading cheese manufacturers, marketing products under brands including El Moutamayez, Ryco and Selection.
The second contract involves the complete refurbishment of the wastewater treatment plant at Afia Savola’s industrial site in Oran. The facility has a treatment capacity of 480 m³/day of industrial wastewater. According to Lantania, the upgrade will be carried out while the plant remains operational and will incorporate degreasing, equalization, pH control, primary physicochemical treatment through flotation, and sludge dewatering systems.
Once commissioned, the renovated installation will generate key operational data to support the future deployment of a second-stage biological treatment process.
Afia is a vegetable oil brand owned by Saudi Arabia-based Savola Group, one of the largest food and beverage companies in the Middle East.
