MGC secures Jubail–Buraidah Pipeline project deal in Saudi Arabia
Mutlaq Al-Ghowairi Contracting Company (MGC), based in Saudi Arabia, has announced that it has secured the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for the Jubail-Buraidah Independent Water Transmission Pipeline Project, reports Zawya.
This project is expected to enhance the water infrastructure in the Al Qassim and Eastern provinces, addressing the drinking water needs in both regions. It is considered an important step in improving water security in Saudi Arabia by facilitating the transfer of desalinated water from the Eastern Province to the Al Qassim region, supporting long-term sustainability and development.
The pipeline, which will span 587 kilometers, is designed to have a transmission capacity of 650,000 cubic meters per day, according to MGC’s LinkedIn post.
The project will also feature a reverse flow capability from Al Shamasiyah, passing through Al Qulayib, to Al Jubail, allowing the full project capacity in accordance with the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture’s plans for regional drinking water connectivity across the Kingdom, the company added.
"As the EPC contractor, this achievement reflects our strong commitment to delivering essential infrastructure and contributing to the success of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030," the LinkedIn post read. "We are honored to be part of this national project and proud of our contribution to building a more sustainable water future."
The project will also include the construction of six strategic storage tanks at Al-Shamasiyah and three strategic storage tanks at Al-Jubail, with a total storage capacity of 1.63 million cubic meters, ensuring a reliable and efficient water supply to the two regions.
