Nine contractors have submitted bids for the design and build contract for a water transmission project in Neom, a Saudi city being built in the Tabuk Province in the northwestern region of the country. The pipeline will link the desalination plant in Oxagon to the town of Gayal in Tabuk, Arab News informed.
The project will extend 100 kilometers and have a diameter of 2 meters.
According to Arab News, the contractors include Saudi Al-Ayuni Investment & Contracting Co., Al-Rashid Trading & Contracting Co., Al-Yamama Co., Nesma Group and Saudi Services for Electromechanic Works. Other bidders include: Lebanon's CAT group, Egypt's Enppi, China's Sinopec and Power China.
The water transmission project includes the installation of a pumping station, storage tanks and water tunnels.
Nearly a dozen water infrastructure projects are planned for NEOM, including the water transmission scheme, with a total estimated budget of around $2 billion.
