About the entity

Saudi Arabia’s National Water Company has announced it will start supplying desalinated water to 100,000 beneficiaries in Dhahran, including the districts of Doha, Dana, King Fahd College of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), Al-Jami’ah and Sulaimaniya.

This happens after the completion of connection works, pumping and distribution of desalinated water from the tanks of the University district in Dhahran. 50,000 cubic metres of water will be pumped daily.

In a statement, the company said: “This project is part of NWC’s ongoing efforts to implement its strategic infrastructure readiness plans in both the water and environmental sectors. It builds on the company's initiatives to increase coverage, improve operational efficiency and meet the increasing demand for water due to the extensive development that the Eastern Province is experiencing. The company is committed to maximizing the use of all available resources to achieve a sustainable water supply."

In addition, other recent announcements include the completion of Phase II of the drinking water network project in Najran, at a cost of approximately 26 million Saudi Riyals (about $7 million). As part of this second phase, water networks and pipelines with different diameters and a total length of more than 133,000 metres would be laid to supply water to various districts in Najran, including Al-Khalidiyah and Al-Dhubbat.

Likewise, the company announced last week the completion of a project to expand the drinking water plant in the Wadi Al-Dawasir Governorate in the Riyadh Region, worth more than 60 million Saudi riyals (more than $16 million). The project has a capacity of 20,000 cubic metres per day and includes the construction of 7 water tanks with a total capacity of 11,500 cubic meters.

The NWC has confirmed its commitment to accelerate the execution of several infrastructure support projects, enhance operational efficiency to elevate service quality, and meet the rising water demand. These actions realise NWC’s goals and strategies and improve the quality of services provided to customers in order to achieve the Kingdom's Vision 2030.
