The Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation ─ Kahramaa ─ has selected a new set of advisers for its Facility E independent water and power project (IWPP), reports MEED.
The members of the new advisory team are: PwC and Clyde & Co, with headquarters in the UK, as financial and legal advisers respectively, as well as Energo as the technical adviser.
The closing date for the project tender has been moved from April 30 to August 27. Water and project agreements with the successful bidding company would be signed in April 2021, and financial close is expected for October of that same year.
The expected power generation capacity of the Facility E IWPP is about 2,300 MW, and it will produce 100 million imperial gallons per day (MIGD) of desalinated water once it becomes fully operational in June 2024. The project plant will start to generate power and water as early as June and July 2023 respectively.
The advisory team will take the place of a consortium appointed in 2017 for the project. Meed had informed in March 2018 that Kahramaa had announced a list of prequalified developers, but the request for proposals was postponed as project amendments were assessed. Prequalified bidders would include Engie (France) / Mitsui (Japan); Itochu (Japan); Kepco (South Korea) / Mitsubishi (Japan); Marubeni (Japan); PowerChina (China) and Sumitomo (Japan).
