Tetra Tech, Inc. has been selected by Rijkswaterstaat to provide engineering and technical services aimed at developing and modernizing water infrastructure across the Netherlands, the company announced.
Rijkswaterstaat is the executive agency of the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management and oversees the country’s main water systems and transport networks. The new agreement focuses on strengthening and extending the life span of critical water infrastructure.
Under the contract, Tetra Tech’s engineers will design solutions to renew and maintain water systems and related assets, including flood defense structures, locks, and bridges. The company will also apply its in house data analytics tools and laboratory services to carry out soil and sediment surveys. These assessments are intended to support evidence based planning for upgrades to existing systems and the development of new water projects.
According to the company, the work will contribute to infrastructure resilience and long-term water security in a country where large areas lie below sea level and depend on engineered flood protection systems.
“Tetra Tech has supported our clients in the Netherlands with innovative solutions to advance resilient water infrastructure for decades,” said Dan Batrack, Tetra Tech Chairman and CEO. “We look forward to continuing to use our Leading with Science® approach to support Rijkswaterstaat to develop future-proof solutions that protect communities against flooding, create sustainable green spaces, and provide resilient clean water supplies.”
