Sacyr Water has been awarded three contracts in Spain with a combined value of €84 million, covering projects in Huelva, Madrid and Tenerife.
In Andalusia, a joint venture formed by Sacyr Ingeniería e Infraestructuras, Sacyr Water, and UC10, secured a €36.3 million contract from the Regional Government of Andalusia to upgrade the Huelva wastewater treatment plant. The works, scheduled to last 27 months, are intended to serve a population of about 180,000. The project includes expanding the pumping station, upgrading biological reactors, adding a sludge line, and renovating equipment and pipelines.
In Madrid, Canal de Isabel II awarded Sacyr Water a €30.4 million, four-year contract for the operation and maintenance of the La Gavia wastewater treatment plant. The facility serves more than 1.35 million people and has an average treatment capacity of 2 cubic metres per second, or 172,800 cubic metres per day. Treated water undergoes tertiary treatment and is discharged into the Manzanares River, with part reused for irrigation and street cleaning. The plant also produces biogas from liquid waste to generate electricity.
In Tenerife, the Tenerife Water Council awarded a €17.5 million contract to a joint venture between Sacyr Ingeniería and Sacyr Water to build a new regional wastewater treatment plant in the Orotava Valley. The project, expected to take 37 months, is designed to serve more than 100,000 people. The plant will have a secondary treatment capacity of 10,000 cubic metres per day using membrane bioreactor technology, with pre-treatment capacity of 20,000 cubic metres per day to allow for future expansion.
