Saudi Arabia’s SWPC seeks bid for Jubail desalination plant

The Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC) has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) to the qualified bidders for a 570,000-cubic-meters-per-day desalination plant.

The reverse osmosis desalination plant, the Jubail-3B independent water project (IWP), is to be developed in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia.

SWPC had initially planned for an integrated water desalination and power plant of 1.17 million cubic meters per day of drinking water capacity and 3,000 MW of power, as well as associated infrastructure and facilities. Nevertheless, after revising the project, the firm decided to separate the project into two independent water projects: Jubail-3B with a potable water capacity of 570,000 m3/day and Jubail-3A with a capacity of 600,000 m3/day.
