Sembcorp Salalah Power & Water Company (SSPWC), a subsidiary of Singapore-based Sembcorp Industries, has secured a new 10-year Power and Water Purchase Agreement (PWPA) with Nama Power and Water Procurement Company (Nama PWP), the sole procurer of power and water capacity in Oman.
The new contract will take effect on 4 April 2027, immediately after the current 15-year PWPA expires on 3 April 2027. It will ensure the continued offtake of electricity and water from the Salalah Independent Water and Power Plant under mutually agreed commercial terms.
Under the terms of the agreement, SSPWC will provide a contracted capacity of 465 megawatts of power per hour and 15 million imperial gallons (68,190 cubic metres) of water per day. The facility, which is both developed and operated by SSPWC, includes a gas-fired combined cycle power plant and a reverse osmosis seawater desalination unit.
While financial details were not disclosed, Sembcorp said the deal reinforces its long-term partnership with Nama PWP, supports revenue visibility, and underpins the operational sustainability of the Salalah plant.
Sembcorp currently manages a portfolio of over one gigawatt of energy assets in Oman, covering both gas-fired generation and renewable projects. The company said the new agreement strengthens its position to advance long-term growth plans in the Sultanate.
