Sensus International has launched as a standalone global business following the completion of its sale from Xylem to European private equity firm AURELIUS.
The deal, first agreed in October 2025, covers Xylem's water and heat metering operations outside of North America. Xylem is retaining its North American Sensus business, which the company says remains a strategic part of its portfolio. The transaction closed after receiving the necessary regulatory approvals.
Headquartered in Ludwigshafen, Germany, Sensus International describes itself as an end-to-end provider of advanced metering and infrastructure solutions for water and thermal energy utilities. The company currently has millions of devices installed across more than 60 countries and operates manufacturing facilities in Germany, Slovakia, Algeria, Chile, South Africa, and China.

The company says its metering technology is designed to improve accuracy, reduce water losses, and support the digital transformation of utility networks, areas of growing importance as aging infrastructure and water scarcity concerns increase pressure on utilities worldwide.
