Seven Seas Water Group (SSWG), a global Water-as-a-Service® (WaaS®) provider, has officially broken ground on a major brackish water reverse osmosis facility in partnership with the South Texas Water Authority (STWA). The July 8, 2025, ceremony marked the start of construction on a project aimed at strengthening long-term water security and economic development across Kleberg and Nueces Counties and the wider Coastal Bend region.
The advanced desalination plant will initially provide 3 million gallons of drinking water per day, with plans to expand capacity to 30 million gallons as future agreements develop, particularly with the City of Corpus Christi. The project represents a major step toward ensuring a stable, resilient, and independent water supply for South Texas.

“Our Water-as-a-Service® model delivers sustainable, scalable water solutions for regions like South Texas facing persistent drought and growth,” said SSWG CEO Henry Charrabé. “By harnessing an underutilized brackish aquifer, we’re turning a once-inaccessible resource into a long-term source of clean, affordable water.”
John Marez, Executive Director of STWA, added, “This project reflects years of planning and partnership. It not only meets today’s water needs but helps secure our future, supporting regional growth, environmental stewardship, and community well-being.”
Beyond meeting water demand, the project will deliver environmental benefits. The facility’s concentrate byproduct will be repurposed to help replenish nearby water bodies during peak heat, contributing to the health of Baffin Bay, a vital coastal ecosystem.
