About the entity

Smartvatten, a European leader in digital water management, has acquired Finnish company LeakLook, a specialist in submetering and IoT-enabled water monitoring for real estate. The move marks one of the largest acquisitions in Europe’s commercial real estate water monitoring market and strengthens Smartvatten’s ambition to become the continent’s top water measurement and analytics platform.

Through the deal, LeakLook’s employees will join Smartvatten’s 150-strong global team, bolstering research and development in IoT devices and AI-driven water analytics. Combined, the companies monitor water flows in more than 40,000 properties across 30 countries.

“This merger brings together two companies aligned by a shared mission: to enable the most efficient use of water through scalable, digital solutions, helping to reduce pressure on the world´s increasingly scarce water resources,” said Petter Quinsgaard, CEO of Smartvatten. “Together with LeakLook, we are not just growing in scale — we are deepening our ability to serve customers with an even broader range of advanced solutions and services.”

The partnership will focus on developing next-generation IoT-enabled monitoring and AI-powered analytics to detect leaks, inefficiencies, and irregularities. With water scarcity and rising water prices putting pressure on property owners and utilities, Smartvatten sees the integration as a timely step forward.

“This acquisition is about more than expanding our footprint — it’s about shaping the future of sustainable water management,” Quinsgaard added.

LeakLook’s technology will now be rolled out through Smartvatten’s European sales and partner network, reaching commercial and residential real estate, utilities, and insurers.

“Joining forces with Smartvatten allows us to elevate our impact far beyond what we could achieve alone,” said Karl Sandelin, CEO of LeakLook. “Our clients will benefit from faster response times, wider solution coverage, and our expertise in smart IoT network solutions.”
