A total of fifteen companies and consortiums have been prequalified by Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC) for two independent and major water reservoir projects: The Eastern Province project and the Al-Ahsa Independent Strategic Water Reservoir (ISWR) project.
The two facilities will have a total capacity of 4.9 million cubic meters per day, according to Trade Arabia.
The fifteen prequalified developers are:

- Al Rawaf Contracting Company – One Person Company
- Alfanar Company

- China Gezhouba Group Overseas Investment Co. Ltd.
- Gulf Investment Corporation
- Vision International Investment Company
- Marubeni Corporation
- Metito Utilities Limited
- Mutlaq Al-Ghowairi Co. for Contracting Company
- Nesma Company Ltd.
- SALEH SAEED TEISHAN AND SONS CO. LTD.
The Al Ahsa Independent Strategic Water Reservoir will have a water storage capacity of 1.4 million cubic meters and the second project, the Eastern Province, will have a total storage capacity of 3.51 million cubic meters.
At the beginning of 2022, SWPC had notified that a total of 21 utility project developers, including 10 Saudi companies, had expressed their interests in the Al Ahsa and Eastern Province projects.
Once SWPC has conducted a competitive process to select the firm or consortium for these two projects, the successful bidder will provide the required storage capacity to SWPC under a 30-year water storage agreement.
