SWPC prequalifies 15 developers for two major water reservoir projects

A total of fifteen companies and consortiums have been prequalified by Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC) for two independent and major water reservoir projects: The Eastern Province project and the Al-Ahsa Independent Strategic Water Reservoir (ISWR) project.

The two facilities will have a total capacity of 4.9 million cubic meters per day, according to Trade Arabia.

The fifteen prequalified developers are:

  1. Abdulaziz Alajlan Sons Co. for Commercial & Real Estate Investment
  2. Metscco Heavy Steel Industries Co. Ltd.
  3. Al Rajhi Holding
  4. Mowah Co.
  5. Al Rawaf Contracting Company – One Person Company
  6. Alfanar Company
  7. Alkhorayef Water & Power Technologies
  8. China Gezhouba Group Overseas Investment Co. Ltd.
  9. Gulf Investment Corporation
  10. Vision International Investment Company
  11. Marubeni Corporation
  12. Metito Utilities Limited
  13. Mutlaq Al-Ghowairi Co. for Contracting Company
  14. Nesma Company Ltd.
  15. SALEH SAEED TEISHAN AND SONS CO. LTD.

The Al Ahsa Independent Strategic Water Reservoir will have a water storage capacity of 1.4 million cubic meters and the second project, the Eastern Province, will have a total storage capacity of 3.51 million cubic meters.

At the beginning of 2022, SWPC had notified that a total of 21 utility project developers, including 10 Saudi companies, had expressed their interests in the Al Ahsa and Eastern Province projects.

Once SWPC has conducted a competitive process to select the firm or consortium for these two projects, the successful bidder will provide the required storage capacity to SWPC under a 30-year water storage agreement.
