Tamas Projects has been selected to deliver a major rehabilitation programme for the Step Terminal Pumping Station PS01 in Abu Dhabi under a contract valued at approximately $163 million.
The engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract was awarded by Taqa Water Solutions and focuses on restoring and upgrading the pumping station, a critical component of the emirate’s wastewater network.
PS01 is part of the Strategic Tunnel Enhancement Programme (STEP), a large-scale wastewater infrastructure initiative originally developed by the Abu Dhabi Sewerage Services Company. The utility is now integrated into Taqa Water Solutions.
The rehabilitation works are intended to improve the long-term reliability of the facility, minimise unexpected service interruptions and help ensure the continued conveyance of wastewater to downstream treatment and disposal facilities.
Work on the PS01 rehabilitation scheme is scheduled to commence during the third quarter of this year, with project completion targeted for 2028. The contract scope includes the replacement and refurbishment of mechanical assets, together with the installation of disinfection systems and chemical dosing equipment. The project will also deliver improvements to electrical, instrumentation and control infrastructure.
Additional works will cover the installation of new pipework, valves and pumping station manifolds, as well as the implementation of ventilation and odour management systems.
The project forms part of ongoing efforts to maintain and enhance Abu Dhabi’s wastewater infrastructure as demand for resilient and efficient water services continues to grow.
