The City of Gloucester, Massachusetts, has awarded an $8 million contract to Tetra Tech for engineering design and technical services as part of a broader effort to modernize the city’s wastewater treatment infrastructure.
Tetra Tech will provide planning, engineering, and permitting services to support the first phase of the project, which involves upgrading Gloucester’s Water Pollution Control Facility. The facility is currently one of the few remaining primary treatment plants in the United States. The modernization plan includes the integration of secondary treatment systems.
According to the company, the overall $100 million project is designed to minimize operational disruptions, accommodate future capacity needs, meet regulatory standards, and incorporate energy efficiency and flood resilience features.
“Tetra Tech is pleased to use our Leading with Science® approach to support the City of Gloucester in transforming its wastewater treatment facility,” said Dan Batrack, Tetra Tech Chairman and CEO. “We look forward to continuing to deliver exceptional value to the City of Gloucester, supporting critical infrastructure and protecting water quality in the Massachusetts Bay estuary.”
