  • Tetra Tech selected for Oklahoma's first indirect potable reuse project

Tetra Tech, a provider of consulting and engineering services in water, environmental, and sustainable infrastructure sectors, has been selected by the City of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, to lead the design and technical development of the state’s first permitted indirect potable reuse (IPR) facility.

This new contract builds on Tetra Tech’s prior work conducting an IPR pilot study for the city. The upcoming project will focus on expanding the Chickasaw Wastewater Treatment Plant’s capacity by 15 percent. As part of the design, Tetra Tech will implement advanced treatment processes to handle up to 50 percent of the city’s daily wastewater flow. The treated water will be released several miles upstream into the Caney River, where it will later be recaptured, retreated, and delivered through Bartlesville’s municipal water system during periods of extreme drought.

“Tetra Tech is pleased to partner with the City of Bartlesville on this innovative project, the first indirect potable reuse facility in Oklahoma,” said Dan Batrack, Tetra Tech Chairman and CEO. “We will use our Leading with Science® approach to deliver advanced water reuse solutions that help extend Bartlesville's water supply by up to 40 years and support the State of Oklahoma’s forward-looking ‘Water for 2060’ goals.”
