Thames Water Utilities Limited has announced plans to publish a tender notice for its Major Projects Framework, a large-scale procurement programme expected to deliver capital investment across its operational regions.
The forthcoming framework will cover major works and asset upgrades, with an estimated total value of £1.008 billion including VAT. It is designed to foster long-term partnerships with suppliers while streamlining procurement by reducing repeated bidding processes. Contracts awarded under the framework will support the delivery of Asset Management Period 8 (AMP8), with the potential to extend into AMP9 depending on performance.
To mark the transition from preliminary market engagement to formal procurement, Thames Water will host an Invitation to Negotiate (ITN) Launch Event on 18 September 2025. The event will provide potential bidders with an overview of the opportunity, a summary of engagement outcomes, details of the procurement process, contract requirements, and evaluation criteria. A Q&A session will also be held to allow suppliers to seek clarification.
Interested suppliers, including Tier 1 main contractors, joint ventures, and consortia, are encouraged to attend. Registration closes at 12 noon on 12 September 2025.
The formal tender notice is scheduled for publication on 19 September 2025, with the deadline for requests to participate set for 15 October 2025 at 10:00 am. The award decision is expected by March 2026, with contracts commencing from 30 March 2026 and running until 30 March 2033. An extension to July 2035 remains possible based on performance.
The estimated framework duration is nine years and three months, with Thames Water retaining flexibility to award contracts either with or without competition under the framework rules.
