The Cabinet of the United Arab Emirates approved a series of measures last week that seek to support retailers, hotels and industrial sectors affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, reports the Emirates News Agency.

The water and electricity bills of shopping malls, commercial shops, hotels, hotel apartments, and plants will be reduced by 20 per cent for three months, starting from April 2020, with a total value of AED86 million (US$23.4 million).

The UAE cabinet also approved a 6 months payment deferral of water and electricity connection’s installments, as well as a three-months freeze of service reconnection fines, which varies from AED3000- AED5000 ($816 to $1,360), starting from April.
