India-based VA Tech Wabag has announced that its consortium has been awarded a contract for the Ajman Sewage Biorefinery Plant-Phase 3 in the United Arab Emirates, reports TradeArabia. The contract, valued between $30 million and $70 million, was granted by Ajman Sewerage (Private) Company.
The project is planned to be carried out over two years through a consortium structure.
The work includes the design, engineering, procurement, and construction of a 60 million litres per day sewage treatment plant. The project scope covers inlet works, primary and secondary treatment systems, and sludge management facilities, including digesters, gas holders, scrubbers, and power generation systems. Odor control systems and disc filters will also be installed to meet the specified effluent quality.
The plant will use mechanical and biological treatment processes based on the Activated Sludge Process, with tertiary treatment provided through disc filtration systems.
VA Tech Wabag stated that the contract represents the company’s entry into the UAE and is expected to strengthen its presence in the Gulf Cooperation Council region. The company also noted that the project could support its efforts to pursue additional water and wastewater projects in the Middle East.
