In a strong affirmation of its commitment to sustainable development, Veolia has released its 2024 extra-financial performance results, showcasing record achievements that align with the Group’s “multifaceted performance” approach under its GreenUp 2024–2027 strategic program.

Multifaceted performance, a model pioneered by Veolia, integrates five interdependent pillars — economic, commercial, social, societal, and environmental — into the Group's value creation framework. This holistic strategy underpins Veolia’s ability to deliver both financial resilience and meaningful ecological impact.

We prove every day that it is possible to combine operational performance and positive environmental impact - Estelle Brachlianoff, CEO of Veolia

“These remarkable results demonstrate the robustness of our multifaceted performance model and our unique ability to create sustainable value for all our stakeholders. Our decisive progress in decarbonization, pollution control and resource regeneration confirm our position as a global leader in ecological transformation.” said Estelle Brachlianoff, CEO of Veolia. “We prove every day that it is possible to combine operational performance and positive environmental impact by putting our expertise at the service of our clients.”

Among Veolia’s most notable environmental achievements for 2024 is the preservation of 1.45 billion cubic metres of fresh water, a result of targeted actions such as leak reduction, increased use of alternative water sources, and overall water use efficiency. This milestone further cements Veolia’s standing as a global leader in water stewardship and conservation.

The company also made significant headway in its decarbonization agenda, cutting scope 1 and 2 emissions by nearly 15%, and achieving a 13% increase in scope 4 avoided emissions — amounting to 15.2 million tonnes of CO₂. These efforts were bolstered by ongoing investments in phasing out coal across Europe, totalling €133.5 million in 2024 alone and €656 million since the plan’s inception.

In the area of hazardous waste management, Veolia treated 8.7 million tonnes of dangerous materials, contributing directly to the protection of public health and fragile ecosystems. The Group also surpassed its biodiversity targets, emphasizing its integrated approach to ecological regeneration.

The achievements are backed by strong employee engagement — with an 88% commitment rate among 165,000 staff — further validating the successful integration following Veolia’s merger with Suez. The Group's efforts have been widely recognized by leading international extra-financial rating agencies, underscoring the credibility and impact of its sustainability model.

Veolia’s 2024 performance not only confirms its strategic direction but also offers a compelling blueprint for companies seeking to harmonize business performance with ecological responsibility.
