Prague’s water management company has awarded a €192 million contract to upgrade the city’s central wastewater treatment plant to a consortium led by a subsidiary of VINCI Construction.
Work is scheduled to begin in October 2026 and is expected to take 43 months. The project will involve dismantling existing equipment, demolishing and rebuilding 40 structures, and upgrading key parts of the facility. Plans include rebuilding eight of the plant’s 20 settling tanks, refurbishing four others, and installing new water treatment technologies across the site.
The treatment plant has been in operation for more than 50 years. The upgrade aims to modernise the facility, improve water treatment quality, and reduce energy consumption.
Project plans also include measures to limit environmental impact. These include reusing materials on site and using rainwater and recycled water during construction.
VINCI Construction has a long-standing presence in the Czech Republic, where it generated more than €1.2 billion in revenue in 2025. Other parts of the VINCI Group also operate in the country, including VINCI Energies, which focuses on electrical infrastructure, and VINCI Concessions, which holds a public-private partnership contract for the D4 motorway project.
