VA TECH WABAG has announced that its consortium with Mutlaq Al Ghowairi Contracting (MGC) has been awarded a contract worth USD 371 million in Saudi Arabia, reports Saudi Gulf Projects.
The contract, awarded by Al Haer Environmental Services Company, covers the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (‘EPC’) of the 200 MLD Al Haer Independent Sewage Treatment Plant (‘ISTP’) along with connections to outfall delivery facilities.
The ISTP is being developed by a consortium consisting of Miahona Company (lead), Marafiq, and N.V. Besix S.A. for the Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC), which serves as the primary off-taker for water and wastewater projects in Saudi Arabia.
As the Technology Partner and Leader of the EPC Consortium, WABAG will be responsible for designing and building the 200 MLD Independent Sewage Treatment Plant, while MGC will oversee the construction of reservoirs and the laying of transmission pipelines.
Wabag stated that this win follows an earlier contract, securing an EP order for a 20,000 cu. m. industrial wastewater treatment plant at the Ras Tanura Refinery Complex in Saudi Arabia. The contract was once again awarded by Miahona Company, the developer of the Ras Tanura Refinery project.
This project aligns with Saudi Arabia’s ‘Vision 2030’ initiative, which aims to enhance sewage treatment services and improve the quality of life for residents across the Kingdom.
Commenting on the contract win, Mr. Sivakumar V, Regional Head – Sales and Marketing, stated, “We are extremely happy to secure this 200 MLD Independent Sewage Treatment Plant order from our existing client. We express our gratitude to Miahona Company, Marafiq, Besix Group, and SWPC for their trust and confidence in WABAG. This state-of-the-art technology order is a testament to our technological superiority and commitment to delivering high-quality solutions worldwide. This order win marks another significant milestone for us in Saudi Arabia and reinforces our leadership position in the Middle East Region.”
This week, Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC) announced the successful financial close of the Al Haer Independent Sewage Treatment Plant (ISTP) project in Riyadh, valued at approximately SAR 1.8 billion ($399.93 million).
