Water Engineering Inc. (WEI), a portfolio company of Nolan Capital, has announced its acquisition of Gotham Refining Chemical Corp. (“Gotham”), further expanding its national footprint in the water treatment industry. Gotham, based in Astoria, New York, is a leading provider of commercial and industrial water treatment services, offering programs, chemicals, consultations, site plans, and Legionella testing across the Northeast.

Founded in 1986 by Andrew Lewin, Gotham has built a strong reputation for delivering customized water treatment solutions to a wide range of industries, including commercial buildings and municipal systems. Lewin, who will remain with the company during the transition, has been instrumental in positioning Gotham as a trusted partner, ensuring system longevity and customer satisfaction.

"Andrew has built and grown Gotham into a leading water treatment business by staying on the forefront of service," said David Wagenfuhr, CEO of Water Engineering. "Gotham complements our full-service water treatment offerings, and their focus on providing excellent customer service is a natural fit for the WEI family. We are thrilled to have them aboard as we embark on this next stage of growth."

The acquisition will integrate Gotham into WEI’s platform, maintaining Gotham’s brand, team, and operations while leveraging WEI’s broader resources to support its continued growth. Wagenfuhr expressed confidence in the seamless integration, stating, “We remain excited to work with their employees in growing the business and providing additional resources as part of the WEI platform.”

This acquisition aligns with WEI’s strategy to scale its operations while maintaining its focus on providing best-in-class service and innovative solutions.
