The West Basin Municipal Water District has awarded a five-year operations and maintenance (O&M) contract to Jacobs for its recycled water treatment facilities, according to a statement by the water district. The agreement, valued at $31.5 million for the first year, will support the ongoing operation of five critical facilities, including the Edward C. Little Water Recycling Facility in El Segundo and four additional sites in Playa del Rey, Carson, Torrance, and El Segundo.
West Basin is a leading water recycling agency, producing approximately 40 million gallons of recycled water daily. Its advanced treatment systems serve a wide range of industrial, commercial, and irrigation needs across coastal Los Angeles County. Major customers include Los Angeles International Airport, SoFi Stadium, and Chevron El Segundo.
“This contract is a critical investment in West Basin’s recycled water facilities and reflects the District’s commitment to ensuring the sustainable continued operation of our recycled water program,” said West Basin Board President Gloria Gray.
West Basin launched a Request for Proposals (RFP) to find a service provider for the operation and maintenance (O&M) of its recycled water facilities in October 2024. Jacobs was selected after a competitive procurement process, recognized for its four decades of experience and cost-effective service delivery in the water and wastewater utility sector. The company will begin O&M services on September 1, 2025.
Greg Fischer, Executive Vice President at Jacobs, emphasized the company’s dedication to innovation and quality service. “Our company brings extensive expertise and innovative approaches that will help West Basin to continue delivering the highest quality recycled water supplies to its customers while optimizing facility performance.”
The partnership reinforces West Basin’s mission to reduce dependence on imported water and enhance drought resilience through reliable recycled water services.
