Saudi Arabia’s Water and Environment Technologies Company (WETICO) has been awarded two seawater desalination plants in El Taref and Bejaia, Algeria, the firm announced in a statement at the end of February.
The two seawater desalination facilities will have a capacity of 300,000 cubic meters per day.
The two contracts were signed with Société Algérienne de Réalisation de Projets Industriels (SARPI) and Entreprise Nationale de Canalisations (ENAC).
The contracts include three years of O&M assistance, as well as the design, engineering, procurement, supervision of construction, testing, and commissioning.
The projects, commissioned by the state-owned Sonatrach Group, are part of the Algerian government's desalination programme, which provides funding for the construction of five new seawater desalination plants.
