WSP Binnies JV named to Environment Agency's Ecological Services Framework
WSP, a multidisciplinary professional services consultancy, and Binnies, a provider of water and environmental services, have been appointed to the Environment Agency’s (EA) Ecological Services Framework (EcoSF4). The appointment will see the WSP Binnies joint venture (JV) contribute to ecological projects aimed at supporting the management of freshwater and coastal ecosystems across the UK.

Emma Hatchett, WSP Binnies JV Framework Director, said, “Our nation’s rivers and wetlands are vital ecosystems, and we’re committed to restoring them to their natural state. Through this partnership, WSP Binnies JV will help the Environment Agency achieve its environmental targets, fostering long-term sustainability across critical water habitats.”
Matt Clegg, Environment Director at Binnies UK, added, “We are delighted to offer a comprehensive portfolio of ecological survey and design expertise through this partnership to support the EA in delivering meaningful and lasting enhancements to the nation's aquatic ecosystem.”
The scope of work under EcoSF4 is aimed at helping water bodies achieve good ecological status through activities such as restoring natural flow regimes, enhancing habitat diversity, improving water quality, and supporting ecosystem functionality. These efforts are also expected to contribute to improved engagement with local communities and increased resilience to climate change.
