Southern Water has awarded £540 million in wastewater contracts to three companies, aimed at enhancing the performance of its wastewater network in the South East region. The contracts, which span four key workstreams, are part of the company’s preparations for the upcoming 2025-2030 industry spending period.
The contracts, valued at approximately £540 million in total, cover four separate lots of work. Lanes Group will be responsible for maintenance and manhole services, while Cappagh Browne will oversee sewer rehabilitation projects. McAllister Bros will focus on sewer sealing.
These partnerships will ensure the delivery of essential frontline sewer services, ranging from emergency response to the rehabilitation of existing sewers. The companies will work closely with Southern Water to enhance both environmental performance and customer service.
Alex Saunders, Head of Wastewater Networks at Southern Water, said: “We are delighted to have secured partnerships with industry-leading suppliers who are experts in their respective technical disciplines. These agreements prepare Southern Water to meet the service levels expected by our customers and will help us to deliver on our environmental improvement ambitions for years to come.”
The contracts are set to begin in April 2025 and will cover the entirety of AMP8 (Asset Management Period 8), which runs through to 2030, with the possibility of extensions.
