STRABAG SE, the publicly listed European technology group for construction services, on 10 December 2024 had announced an agreement with the previous owner, EVN AG, to acquire WTE Wassertechnik GmbH. The transaction documents have now been finalised, and the purchase agreement was signed today. The Supervisory Board of STRABAG SE has already approved the planned acquisition, which remains subject to various conditions, including but not limited to antitrust clearance.
The purchase price for the shares in WTE amounts to € 100 million; shareholder loans will be taken over as well. Closing is expected within the next six months.
The acquisition, which is in line with the objectives of Strategy 2030, expands STRABAG’s existing water technology business into the area of integrated water management. The combined portfolio in this business area is expected to generate an annual output of approximately € 400 million.
STRABAG has already achieved important milestones in the field of water technology this year: In Croatia, the company was commissioned to build a water treatment plant for the drinking water supply of the city of Split. In addition, STRABAG has been named preferred bidder for the Haweswater Aqueduct Resilience Programme (HARP) in the United Kingdom. The project is a concession to modernise a 110-kilometre water pipeline system, including associated tunnel sections.
