About the entity

Tedagua
A Cobra Group leading company, specialised in the design, construction, operation and maintenance of desalination plants, drinking water treatment plants, and urban and industrial wastewater treatment and reuse plants, and ancillary facilities

In November 2009, Tedagua commissioned the desalination plant in the city of Beni Saf, a coastal region in southwestern Algeria. With a production capacity of 200,000 cubic meters per day, the facility supplies drinking water to approximately one million residents across the wilayas of Aïn Témouchent and Oran. The project was entrusted to Tedagua by the Algerian government through its national energy company, Sonatrach, marking one of the most significant infrastructure initiatives in the region.

After more than 15 years of uninterrupted operation and maintenance, the plant has reached a major milestone: one billion cubic meters of desalinated water produced for human consumption. This achievement reinforces the reliability of the facility and secures long-term access to high-quality water for the local population. Tedagua extends its gratitude to all direct and indirect team members whose dedication and professionalism made this milestone possible.

The construction of the Beni Saf desalination plant has also played a key role in promoting regional development and improving employment opportunities

The construction of the Beni Saf desalination plant has also played a key role in promoting regional development and improving employment opportunities. During the construction phase, the project generated 700 jobs, and in the current O&M phase, more than 60 local professionals are employed. The plant’s team has actively participated in community initiatives, including beach clean-ups and other environmental activities.

With this milestone, Tedagua strengthens its position as a trusted partner in securing sustainable water access for future generations—not only in Algeria but across Africa, where the company has led desalination projects in Morocco, Tunisia, and Djibouti, among others. Globally, Tedagua continues to serve the water supply and treatment needs of over 20 million people.
