Tedagua has been awarded the technical assistance contract for the management of the Magtaa desalination plant; currently it is the most important plant in the country, in Africa and one of the largest in the world, located in Wilaya de Oran (Algeria).
The purpose of the contract, which will initially last one year, is to improve the operation of the desalination plant, with a nominal capacity of 500,000 m3/day, and thus guarantee the supply of drinking water to more than 1.5 million people in the city Oran and its surroundings, as well as to the industry in the area. In addition, Tedagua will implement actions to optimize the management of the plant's operation and maintenance, and propose upgrade projects to increase the current production.
The plant was built under a BOT model, as a public-private partnership, with the participation of the national Algerian Energy Company (AEC), which promotes large-scale desalination projects with national and foreign companies. The success achieved in the management of the Beni Saf desalination plant, with a capacity of 200,000 m3/day, has led AEC to choose Tedagua and Cobra Algérie for the works at the Magtaa plant.
The award of this contract will increase Tedagua's experience in Algeria, and help strengthen the relationship with companies and public entities in the country.
