U.S. Water Services Corporation (U.S. Water), a leading provider of water and wastewater utility management, operations, and maintenance services, announced that it acquired American Water’s 50% partnership interest in its joint venture company with Acciona Agua Corporation (ACCIONA). The Company is responsible for the operations and maintenance of the Tampa Bay Seawater Desalination Facility, the second largest seawater desalination facility in the United States, providing up to 25 million gallons per day (MGD) of drinking water to the Tampa Bay region since 2007. Renamed as U.S. Water-Acciona Seawater Desalination Partners, LLC, the Company secured the renewal of its service agreement with Tampa Bay Water through November 2029 and is expected to support and advance Tampa Bay Water’s continued investment in the facility.

This acquisition results in the expansion of the strategic partnership between Acciona and U.S. Water and it follows the partnership’s recent selection by the Polk Regional Water Cooperative for the design support, start-up and commissioning, and long-term operations and maintenance of two new brackish water reverse osmosis systems, with total capacity of 22.5 MGD, serving the Polk County, Florida region.
