The Spanish subsidiary of Veolia Water Technologies and Papelera del Oria have reached an agreement for the design, supply, and installation of two Idraflot™dissolved air flotation systems, with a unit treatment capacity of 90 cubic meters per hour. The objective of this project is to obtain an effluent of high discharge quality that complies with or even exceeds environmental requirements.
To this end, Papelera del Oria has chosen the dissolved air flotation technology Idraflot™ from Veolia Water Technologies. The project consists of two flotation units, one acting as a primary clarifier before the biological clarifier and the other acting as a secondary clarifier after the biological treatment. This configuration allows the reduction of suspended solids both at the biological inlet -which gives greater stability to this stage of the process- and at the biological outlet, acting as a final polish.
Idraflot™ reduces operating costs as it requires little maintenance and the consumption of chemical products is lower compared to other similar technologies. It also minimizes odor pollution, another relevant aspect for Papelera del Oria, since it allows the harmonious integration of the WWTP into the environment, and prevents the residents of Zizurkil and Villabona from being affected by unpleasant odors.
