Preferred bidder for Shuqaiq 3 IWP project in Saudi Arabia is appointed

Saudi Arabia's Water and Electricity Company (WEC) has appointed the consortium comprising Marubeni Corporation, Abdul Latif Jameel Commercial Development Company, Acciona Agua SA and Rawafid Alhadarah Holding Company as the preferred bidder for the development, design, financing, construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance of the Shuqaiq 3 desalination plant of 450,000 m3/day and the development, design, financing, construction, commissioning and transfer of the associated Electrical Special Facilities (the “Shuqaiq 3 IWP Project”).

Shuqaiq Phase 3 Independent Water Plant

The water plant will have a net potable water capacity of 380,000 m3/day, and will be designed using reverse osmosis seawater desalination technology. The IWP will be located in the city of Shuqaiq, on the Red Sea coast, approximately 137 km north of Jazan, KSA, and will be powered by electricity from the high voltage grid (the “Project”).
