WEG, a leading international company in electrical and mechanical solutions for the water sector, participated in the Spanish Desalination and Reuse Association (AEDyR) 13th International Congress. Among the different actions that have been carried out, the company has been the lanyard sponsor of the event, has had an exhibition space where it has been able to attend to professionals from the public and private water sector, and has participated in a presentation with Aqualia.
The event was inaugurated by Domingo Zarzo, President of AEDyR, Susana Benavides, Director General of Planning and Water Resources of the Andalusian Regional Government, and Hugo Morán, Secretary of State for the Environment of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge. The keynote speakers were Mohammed Alghamdi, Business Development Director, and Hamad Alfulayj, Projects Execution Manager from Saudi Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC).
The technical sessions focused on the following topics: innovation in desalination and reuse, water and agriculture, circular economy and sustainability, pollutants of emerging concern, micropollutants, and product developments.

The presentation, co-led by WEG and Aqualia, took place on Thursday in the technical session "Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energies." Jesús Rivas, Water and Wastewater Global Manager at WEG, and José Luis Marín Delgado from Aqualia presented "Energy Recovery in Desalination Plants" on a collaborative R&D&I project for a brackish water reverse osmosis rack regulation system to save energy and achieve greater environmental sustainability. This presentation showed WEG's industrial capabilities, providing value and innovative solutions to improve efficiency and sustainability in the water sector.
Jesús Rivas, after the end of the event, commented, "We have enjoyed the AEDyR congress, which has brought together the leading players in the water sector, with high-level presentations on water projects, products, and solutions and where we have expanded our network of contacts for future collaborations. And as a curiosity, WEG Iberia and AEDyR have celebrated their 25th anniversary in this beautiful setting.
WEG presented its latest innovations in motors and drives, electrical and mechanical equipment, and its Motion Fleet Management solution for predictive maintenance and asset management. Javier de la Morena, Head of Key Accounts and Marketing at WEG Iberia, and Jefferson Prandi, Managing Director of WEG Iberia Industrial, accompanied the water team, supporting all the communication and commercial work.
The Spanish Desalination and Reuse Association (AEDyR) was created in 1998 to unite the different companies and groups in this sector in Spain. The purpose of the Association, as stated in its statutes, is to "promote the appropriate use of seawater and brackish water desalination and the reuse of reclaimed wastewater, thus contributing to the sustainable management of water resources." To this end, it carries out a series of activities, including its congresses, as a meeting point for the sector, disseminating research and technological innovations, and training and preparation activities for technicians.
