A key section of the webinar “From data to action: building a digital twin of Brabant Water’s network with Xylem Vue” explored how Brabant Water has progressed from defining its digital twin ambitions to applying them in everyday operations. Program Manager Wouter Huisman led a live demonstration showing how the platform converts technical modelling into clear, practical insight.
Using the Xylem Vue interface, Huisman simulated a valve closure within part of the network. Within seconds, nodes on the screen turned red, indicating where pressure would drop and which customers could be affected. “Now we know which customers are likely to be impacted, we can connect this also with our customer systems,” he said. He then demonstrated a burst scenario, with the model recalculating in real time so operators can visualise impacts and test responses before taking action. “These simulations and insights from the platform help us to get an overview,” Huisman noted, highlighting their role in supporting Brabant Water’s new control room.
Huisman also outlined the organisational change underpinning the project: new roles, closer collaboration across departments, and an agile approach to implementation. The initiative is already delivering more visibility, greater control and new customer services — early evidence of a shift toward proactive network management.
