Idrica, a company specialized in the digitalization of the integrated water cycle, has taken part in the reforestation of the forest in Pedralba, Spain, through the planting of 125 trees.
This initiative, carried out in collaboration with Bosquia—an organization with extensive experience in sustainable reforestation and carbon footprint offsetting—forms part of Idrica’s corporate social responsibility strategy. With it, the company aims to restore vulnerable forest areas while reinforcing its commitment to sustainability, carbon footprint reduction, and water stewardship. “At Idrica, we believe that the digital transformation of water must go hand in hand with a firm commitment to the planet. This forest in Pedralba is an example of how technology, business, and nature can move forward together,” says Begoña González, Quality Manager at Idrica.
In this sense, the involvement of companies like Idrica is key to making initiatives such as the project we are carrying out in the Turia Natural Park a reality, contributing to a collective effort
The project includes the planting of various tree species, such as dwarf fan palm, walnut, buckthorn, thyme, and strawberry tree, in a degraded area of the Pedralba surroundings. The selection follows scientific and ecological criteria designed to enhance the establishment and growth of the saplings.
Project objectives
In this regard, the project pursues three main objectives:
- Restoration of an area affected by a 2013 wildfire
- Recovery of vegetation and biodiversity through the planting of native species adapted to the Mediterranean climate
- Reduction of wildfire risk by breaking the continuity of flammable shrubland
Beyond CO₂ capture, this initiative seeks to highlight all the benefits that forest restoration provides it fosters local biodiversity, enhances the landscape of the municipality of Pedralba, and helps raise community awareness. It also encourages both water-sector stakeholders and the broader community to understand the importance of aligning technological action with ecological impact to address the challenges of climate change and water scarcity. According to Rafael Permuy, CEO of Bosquia Nature, “Forest restoration is more than planting trees: it is about recovering ecosystems, engaging communities, and building the future. In this sense, the involvement of companies like Idrica is key to making initiatives such as the project we are carrying out in the Turia Natural Park a reality, contributing to a collective effort.”
With this initiative, Idrica reinforces its commitment to the environment not only within the water sector, but also by promoting the care of natural surroundings. It adds to other company-led actions with the same purpose, such as the waste collection initiative undertaken by Idrica employees and their families last October.
