During the concluding session of the webinar How can data reduce water losses by half? organized by Diehl Metering and Smart Water Magazine, Maximilian Oberndoerfer, Product Manager for Analytics Software Solutions in Water and Heat at Diehl Metering, shared insights into the company’s forward-looking approach to water loss management. He highlighted how Diehl Metering is continuously evolving its platforms, integrating customer feedback to enhance functionality and address the industry’s changing demands. A key focus area is developing flexible solutions that enable effective leak detection without necessarily relying on Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), thus making data-driven water management accessible to utilities at various levels of technological advancement.
“Future developments in water loss management software at Diehl Metering are focused on adding value by accurately detecting leaks even without AMI," Oberndoerfer noted. "By analyzing water loss with less frequent meter readings — every two weeks instead of hourly — we can still improve consumption estimation. This is an active project and will be released in 2024.” These innovations aim to empower operators with cost-effective tools for improved performance and sustainable water management practices, reflecting Diehl Metering’s commitment to addressing diverse utility needs.
