Fluence Corporation Limited has announced that it has sold its first AspiralTM System to Three Gorges for the Great Protection of Yangtze River and general contractor China Tiesiju Civil Engineering Group (CREC4).
This sale is of strategic importance to Fluence, as it represents the initial step of a potential long-term strategic partnership with Three Gorges. The initial aim of the collaboration will be to utilise and validate Fluence’s MABR-based AspiralTM Smart Products Solution (SPS) wastewater treatment system in Wuwei County, an important intersection of three major river crossings in Anhui Province.
The initial Aspiral™ S1 unit, valued at approximately US$70,000, incorporates Fluence’s proprietary MABR technology to treat 30 m3/day of wastewater to meet China’s Class 1A high effluent standards for discharge. The advanced AspiralTM SPS was selected for this strategic pilot project due to its stable performance resulting in high treatment quality.
A key priority for the Chinese Government is the environmental remediation of the massive Yangtze River. Three Gorges was created in 2018 with the singular goal of fundamentally improving the water quality of the Yangtze River by implementing integrated and sustainable environmental solutions across 11 provinces and riverside cities to improve their water management and conservation. China’s current 13th 5-year plan mandates the improvement of wastewater treatment in rural China as a priority, and substantial central government funding has been allocated for this purpose.
Fluence Managing Director & CEO Henry Charrabé said: “We are delighted to have the opportunity of building another strategic partnership in China and further supporting environmental remediation in the country. We are confident that the initial AspiralTM order will be a stepping-stone for Fluence to access other opportunities available in the Yangtze River Great Protection zone. It will also allow us to build a deeper relationship with the highly respected Three Gorges Group.”
