An award-winning provider of IoT device management solutions, IoTerop will be organizing on Thursday, October 29th, a live webinar on massive NB-IoT smart water metering deployments in Australia and New Zealand. We spoke with the company to learn a bit more about their virtual event.
Question: On Thursday, October 29th, IoTerop will organize the ‘Massive IoT Deployments over NB-IoT: Smart Water Metering in Australia and New Zealand’. What is the purpose of this webinar?
Answer: Worldwide, we are witnessing an expansion of Narrow Band-IoT (NB-IoT) adoption for smart metering applications. NB-IoT offers an affordable, low-power means to collect metering information without the necessity of maintaining costly infrastructure. However, implementing NB-IoT requires specific capabilities. IoTerop, EDMI, and Vodafone will talk about real-world examples of smart water meter adoption in Australia and New Zealand.
Q: What will be the main topics of discussion?
A: Vodafone will explain how NB-IoT supports the technical challenges and underlying economics of a smart water deployment. IoTerop will talk about how device management allows our clients to operate cost-effective smart meter solutions over NB-IoT. And, finally, a perspective from EDMI on the challenges of building and deploying smart metering solutions.

Q: The webinar will have 3 panelists. Could you tell us a bit about the panelists and their career path?
A: Adam Weston, Business Development Manager at Vodafone Australia, helps multi-national corporations and large public sector entities digitally transform operations by bringing the Internet of Things (IoT) projects to life.
David Roe, Innovation Leader at EDMI, is responsible for building EDMI’s Smart Water business and has held strategic sales and technology roles in banking, telecommunications, and energy industries, including successfully launching and managing several Australian Smart Grid, Smart Metering, and Smart Home projects.
Stephen Lurie, Marketing Manager. Steve's background in technology and cross-organizational marketing role at IoTerop, including work with different industry actors and customers, provides a unique perspective to the challenges of supporting cost-effective IoT solutions.
Q: What is your webinar’s target audience?
A: Anyone interested in building or deploying smart metering solutions for water. Of course, the same technology applies to water leak detection, like United Utilities in the UK, or remote operations of water treatment.
Q: Why is this webinar a must for Smart Water Magazine’s readers?
A: Deploying smart metering solutions for the water industry can improve how we use water, a critical resource, adding billions to global GDP while simultaneously reducing water losses.
