This is another important initiative inserted in the broad plan of social responsibility of the INDAQUA group, which since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic has placed itself at the service of the municipalities where it operates - all concentrated in the north of Portugal. This time, support was made available to the nursing homes in the community of Santa Maria da Feira.
In close coordination with the local and respected entities, INDAQUA provided six Santa Maria da Feira nursing homes with a total of 44 hospital beds, distributed according to specific needs: Santa Casa da Misericórdia (10), O Jardim - Canedo (10), Centro Social de S. Tiago de Lobão (4), Centro Social Dr. Crispim Borges Castro - Milheirós de Poiares (4), O Abrigo - Centro de Solidariedade Social de São João de Ver (2) and Casa Ozanam - São João de Ver (14).
"Hospital beds are indispensable equipment for the care of our elderly, especially in this context of a pandemic. We advised the nursing homes to create conditions in their own spaces to separate, if necessary, the positive cases of COVID-19 from the negative ones, and, at the same time, we have requested the support of local companies to offer charitable efforts to social institutions. Indaqua responded promptly and made itself available to offer all the necessary hospital beds. This offer allows us to create these conditions, guaranteeing the safety of users and minimising the spread of the new coronavirus", says Emídio Sousa, Mayor of Santa Maria da Feira.
The new hospital beds, which have been delivered to the institutions, were donated in their entirety by Miya through its subsidiary INDAQUA, present in Santa Maria de Feira since 2000, ensuring municipal services of water distribution and wastewater collection.
In addition to this activity, the company is also supporting the community with a totally free cleaning and disinfection operation of public spaces, which started in the middle of last April and will continue as long as circumstances require.
