Singapore’s national water utility PUB assumed ownership, May 18, of the Tuaspring desalination plant from financially troubled environmental services company Hyflux Ltd in accordance with PUB’s 30-day notice issued in April.
PUB said in a statement that it has taken over Tuaspring "to safeguard Singapore's water security".
On 17 April 2019, Singapore’s National Water Agency had issued a notice to Tuaspring to terminate the Water Purchase Agreement (WPA) and take over the Tuaspring Desalination Plant. The termination notice had provided a 30-day notice period before PUB took over the TSDP.
