The Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC) has been awarded the Excellence in Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Award 2024 by the International Desalination and Reuse Association (IDRA). This prestigious recognition highlights SWPC’s strategic leadership, commitment to sustainable development and innovative water management, as well as its strategic leadership and unwavering commitment to fostering impactful partnerships that drive transformative changes in the water sector.
SWPC's achievements in 2024 have been instrumental in earning this accolade. Among its landmark initiatives, SWPC announced the selection of preferred bidders for key projects such as Jubail 4 & 6 Independent Water Project (IWP), Jubail–Buraydah IWTP, and the Ras Muhaisen desalinated water project (IWP). These projects reflect SWPC’s ongoing efforts to strengthen Saudi Arabia’s water infrastructure.
Additionally, SWPC celebrated the inauguration of two projects developed through private-sector collaboration: Yanbu 4 IWP and Jeddah Airport 2 ISTP. To further address the Kingdom’s water security challenges, SWPC issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the Riyadh-Qassim Independent Water Transmission Pipeline (IWTP) project. This 859-kilometer pipeline will deliver 685,000 cubic meters of potable water per day, showcasing the company’s vision and scale.
In line with its commitment to fostering private-sector collaboration, SWPC established a strategic partnership for the Al Haer Independent Sewage Treatment Plant Project. It also achieved critical financial milestones, including the financial closure of the Rayis-Rabigh Independent Water Transmission Pipeline and the Juranah Independent Strategic Water Reservoir (ISWR) in Makkah. The Juranah ISWR will provide a strategic storage capacity of 2 million cubic meters and ensure efficient potable water distribution with an operational tank capacity of 500,000 cubic meters.
SWPC further strengthened its position as a leader in PPP projects by launching a Pre-Qualification Program that attracted over 90 developers, both local and international. This program streamlines opportunities for developers to engage in SWPC’s upcoming projects, fostering innovation and expertise across the water sector.
As a government entity, SWPC plays a pivotal role in enhancing Saudi Arabia’s water infrastructure through public-private partnerships. With 12 operational projects, 7 under construction, and 9 in the tendering phase, along with 22 more in the planning stage, SWPC’s contributions align seamlessly with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
