Paques Environmental Technology India, an arm of the Dutch multinational Paques that is part of SKion Water and a world leader in the biological wastewater treatment and biogas purification, has announced an investment that makes it a majority shareholder at Sanpure Systems.
Founded in 2012 in Hyderabad, Sanpure Systems provides custom engineered, high purity water systems for the pharmaceutical and bio-pharmaceutical industries. Its infrastructure is among the best in the country with complete in-house capabilities and large manufacturing capacity.
SKion Water’s investment in Sanpure Systems will address the significant sustainability challenges in the Indian pharmaceutical sector. It will also be of immense interest to the vibrant pharmaceutical industry in India and the sunrise areas of semi-conductor and solar cell manufacturing in the country. Sanpure Systems will continue to operate under the same name and under the leadership of its founder Basavaraj Nekar, who remains a shareholder in the company.
Basavaraj Nekar, founder and CEO of Sanpure Systems: “The synergies between Sanpure, Paques and SKion Water bring benefits to our existing and new customers in India and abroad. We can significantly expand our range of services, deliver even better quality at low economic costs and be even more successful together as a group. I am particularly grateful for the very pleasant negotiations with Sudeep, Reinhard and the entire team and very much look forward to continuing this journey as part of the SKion Water family.”

Sudeep Sangameswaran, Managing Director of Paques Environmental Technology India: "Over the past 10 years, Paques in India has been extremely successful in establishing our world leading technologies in industrial wastewater & gas treatment and redefining benchmarks in the country. As the leading player in this space in India in traditional market 2 verticals like Paper, Sugar, Food Processing, Ethanol etc., the vibrant Indian pharmaceutical industry was our next strategic target to offer new generation effluent treatment solutions. The acquisition of Sanpure therefore, as a significant player in the ultrapure water segment of the pharmaceutical industry, offers Paques (and therefore SKion Water) the unique opportunity to offer end to end, full cycle water management capabilities to one of the country's vital industries that is well on way to attaining global scale."
Dr. Reinhard Hübner, CEO of the SKion Water: “We are very happy that Sanpure and its team of more than 100 employees is becoming part of the SKion Water family. For us, pharma water and wastewater treatment solutions are a strategic growth area. With Sanpure, we are now able to also provide purified water / WFI systems to pharma customers in India. In addition, we can leverage the resources and expertise of Sanpure in other geographies and expand into other process water segments such as hydrogen or solar in India.
