A consortium, led by Alkhorayef Water and Power Technologies Company, has been chosen as the preferred bidder for the Rayis-Rabigh independent water transmission pipeline (IWTP) project, reports Zawya.
The state-owned Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC) has selected the consortium based on its levelised cost of SAR 1.25678/cubic meter.
According to a statement issued to the Saudi stock exchange on Tuesday, the project will boast a transmission capacity of 500,000 cubic meters per day and span a length of 150 kilometers. Its primary objective is to provide drinking water to the Makkah and Madinah regions by the first quarter of 2026, with a contract lasting for 35 years.
Alkhorayef Water holds a 50 percent stake in the consortium, and the company has announced its commitment to collaborate with relevant parties to achieve financial closure for the project, as stated in their recent communication.
On March 7, 2023, the Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC) disclosed that they had received bids from three different consortiums vying for the IWTP project. The participating consortiums are as follows:
