In May, Bahrain's Tender Board approved 119 tenders, renewals, and change orders on behalf of 37 government entities, with a total value of BD122.62 million (approximately $325.20 million), reports Zawya.
The Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) accounted for the highest share, receiving BD46.38 million worth of awarded contracts, representing 37.8% of the total. Other leading entities included Bapco Refining (BD25.77 million), the Information and eGovernment Authority (BD11.52 million), the Works Ministry (BD9.48 million), and Bapco Upstream (BD6.4 million).
EWA was awarded 18 tenders, among them a BD25 million project for its Water Transmission Directorate. Additional EWA-related projects included an BD8.3 million tender for the construction of a 44 MWp solar photovoltaic power plant at the University of Bahrain campus, and a BD460,000 consultancy contract for the Belaj Al Jazaer Independent Power Producer (IPP) solar farm.
The Works Ministry received eight tender approvals in May, including a BD7 million road access project for the Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club, and a BD264,000 contract for chiller replacement and wall repairs at the Isa Cultural Centre.
These allocations reflect continued investment across water infrastructure, energy, digital services, and transportation in the kingdom.
