Calisen appoints former Northumbrian Water Executive to lead water operations

Calisen has appointed Gary Adams as Operations Director for Water, as the company expands its role in the UK water metering sector.

Adams joins the company from Northumbrian Water, where he led a £160 million programme focused on metering operations, smart technology deployment and community engagement. He also managed a team of 220 field and office-based employees. According to Calisen, Adams has more than 20 years of experience working across regulated utilities and large-scale transformation programmes.

In his new position, Adams will oversee operational leadership of Calisen’s water division. The company said his experience in metering transformation and programme delivery will support the continued growth of the business.

Commenting on the appointment, Catherine O'Kelly, chief executive of Calisen, said the UK water sector faces increasing pressure to address water shortages and leakage.

She said smart metering would play a central role in helping water companies detect leaks, optimise networks and reduce consumption, adding that Adams’ experience leading a large-scale metering transformation programme made him well-suited to support the company’s ambitions.

Adams said the water industry is entering a period of major regulatory and structural change and that utilities will need stronger operational models and better use of data to meet future expectations.

He added that Calisen’s scale, technical capability and financial strength position the company to support water companies during the transition toward smarter water infrastructure.
