CIMIC Group, through its subsidiary CPB Contractors, has been selected by Sydney Water to deliver the Orchard Hills Water Filtration Plant upgrade in Sydney, Australia. The contract is expected to generate approximately A$150 million (US$106 million) in revenue for CPB Contractors.

The project aims to improve the reliability and resilience of the drinking water supply for around 260,000 customers and support future growth in the Blue Mountains and Penrith regions.

CPB Contractors will work with technology and design partners, including Veolia, BG&E, CWT, Atlas, CNFiTech and EIC Activities, part of the CIMIC Group, to design and construct a new pre-treatment facility at the plant. The upgrade will provide additional treatment of raw water prior to filtration.

The scope of works includes the construction of the new pre-treatment plant, upgrades to existing chemical storage and handling facilities, removal of redundant buildings and concrete structures, and site works such as improvements to pipelines, roads and power supply.

Construction is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2026.
