Encina Wastewater Authority has selected Tetra Tech, Inc. for a single-award contract to deliver digital automation and operational technology network solutions for the Cogeneration Low-Emission Augmentation and Retrofit (CLEAR) project in California.
The work involves integrating new microgrid control and gas conditioning systems into the facility’s existing digital infrastructure. The goal of the project is to support energy recovery from wastewater operations by improving biogas efficiency and reducing emissions.
Tetra Tech’s digital systems team will manage integration across several systems as part of the design-build effort on behalf of Encina Wastewater Authority. These include oxidation catalyst emissions controls, biological trickling filters, a 1-megawatt linear generator facility, a digester biogas conditioning facility, and a 1.5 megawatt-hour battery energy storage system.
The company said the integration will connect previously separate operational technology systems within the plant’s digital environment.
Tetra Tech chief executive officer Roger Argus said the company has been working with Encina Wastewater Authority on operational technology and systems integration since 2017, focusing on secure control systems for wastewater treatment and energy management.
