TasWater has selected engineering firm GHD as its partner for the Engineering, Planning and Design (EPD) Framework, a decade-long, AUD $100 million programme of dams, water and sewerage upgrades across Tasmania. The partnership forms a key part of TasWater’s $2 billion investment over the next five years to deliver reliable, sustainable water and sewerage services for a thriving Tasmania.
The EPD Framework is one of seven long-term delivery partnerships TasWater is establishing under its Future Delivery Model, each tailored to different types of projects across the state. GHD will support the entire program with integrated planning and design across major projects, renewals, technology upgrades and more.
In addition to GHD, four locally based engineering consultancies — JMG, IPD, pitt&sherry and Ganden — will provide specialist support, ensuring the program benefits from a diverse range of regional expertise across Tasmania’s water and sewerage sector.
TasWater General Manager Project Delivery, Tony Willmott, said: “TasWater is investing billions of dollars in essential water and sewerage infrastructure over the coming years,” Mr Willmott said.
The partnership model embeds shared governance, joint planning and outcome-focused delivery, meaning TasWater and GHD share both risks and rewards. This collaborative approach is designed to improve project certainty, efficiency and community trust while ensuring Tasmania’s infrastructure meets the needs of current and future generations.
The collaboration reflects a major step forward in TasWater’s strategy to deliver long-term, sustainable water and sewerage services through stronger partnerships and smarter planning — ensuring every project contributes lasting value to Tasmanian communities and the environment.
