Detectronic, a UK-based company specializing in wastewater monitoring, has announced the appointment of Jonah Petrie as Business Development Manager to enhance the company's footprint in Australasia.
Petrie, a Chartered Professional Engineer, will be based in Sydney and brings over ten years of experience in water, wastewater, and civil infrastructure within Australia. His career has involved extensive work with utilities, councils, asset managers, and construction teams to improve the understanding, maintenance, and management of water infrastructure.
Throughout his career, Petrie has been involved in the construction and rehabilitation of key water and wastewater systems, the development of asset strategies, condition assessments, and monitoring technologies. Before joining Detectronic, he held technical and commercial roles, supporting infrastructure rehabilitation projects and the rollout of AI-enabled wastewater monitoring solutions across Australian utilities and councils. His engineering expertise, combined with a passion for using data to safeguard waterways and mitigate environmental risks, has defined his career trajectory.
Petrie stated, "I’m delighted to join Detectronic and lead our market development and customer engagement across Australia, New Zealand, and Papua New Guinea. We know that accurate data and reliable monitoring are key to helping operators make informed decisions, meet their environmental obligations, and protect the communities and ecosystems their networks serve. That’s exactly what I will be focused on delivering."
Neil Butler, Managing Director of Detectronic, said, "It’s great to have someone of Jonah’s calibre join the team. His specific industry experience and strategic vision make him the perfect fit for this role. We look forward to the positive impact he will have on our customers and the business across Australasia."
